The football club of Kraainem, a commune in the Flemish periphery of Brussels with ’facilities’ for its francophone majority, counts 300 young players with 41 different nationalities. As few of them are fluent in Dutch, the club has decided to offer a week-long Easter training session combining Dutch lessons and training in Dutch. "Notre objectif est de compenser le retard des enfants et de leur assurer un meilleur avenir", says Laurent Thieule, chairman of the club, in an interview with Le Soir ("Football of voetbal ?", 1/3/2014). The initiative is endorsed by Marc Wilmots, trainer of Belgium’s national team : "L’aspect linguistique doit devenir un atout économique et social pour notre pays et pour les jeunes générations."
