The Fédéralistes démocrates francophones (FDF) too are now pleading for better and earlier teaching of Dutch and English in the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles (FWB). In a note published on its website on 10 December 2013, they advocate the teaching of a second language from the third year of primary school in Wallonia, as is already the case for Dutch in Brussels but so far without any specific funding by the FWB. Further, they advocate starting with a third language from the fifth year of primary school, English in Brussels and Dutch in Wallonia if it has not been chosen as first foreign language. They lament the fact that most pupils in the professional sections of secondary school in both regions have no second language teaching at all. And they call for an urgent increase in the supply of qualified language teachers, including through an agreement with the Flemish community.
