Until recently, the teaching of languages through immersion or Content and Language Integrated Learning was allowed in Belgium’s French-language schools but in principle not in Dutch-language schools. On the 10th of July 2013, however, the Flemish Parliament passed a bill allowing for a up to 20% of weekly classes being given in French, English or German in secondary schools funded by the Flemish Community from ultimately September 2014 onwards.
